About Mahmudul
Prior to joining the #iSchool at the University of South Carolina, Mahmudul served as a Master Instructor at Indian River State College in the Department of Computer Information Technology.
Before moving to Florida, he worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant in Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Earlier in his career, he was a lecturer and AI engineer.
Mahmudul completed his Master’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, where he conducted his research under the supervision of Professor Yifeng Gao. In his master’s dissertation, he conducted research on data mining, machine learning, and information retrieval, using time-series data to analyze and improve deep hashing performance.
He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Engineering. Throughout his career, Mahmudul has served as a lecturer and course designer, developing foundational and advanced courses in information and computer science at several universities and colleges in both face-to-face and online formats.
He has more than three years of professional work experience in the information and computer science industry. He has served in different roles, including education and as an AI engineer for a startup company, across several organizations.
